Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County is seeking leaders to join its volunteer Board of Directors and Committees
We are inviting applications for Board and Board Committee members with leadership experience and a commitment to the well-being of children and families in the Guelph- Wellington community.
These are unpaid, volunteer positions.
We are working hard to ensure that our Board and Committees broadly represent the diversity of our community and strongly encourage
all qualified persons to apply.
Who we are: We are also known as the local children’s aid society. Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County (FCSGW) has been serving the Guelph-Wellington community for 125 years. We are a charitable, non-profit organization that offers a range of services to children and families. We have a strong community focus and enjoy collaborative working relationships with other agencies throughout Guelph and Wellington County.
Board of Directors: The 14 member Board of Directors provides high-level leadership and governance for the Agency by providing oversight of the organization’s operations, performance and outcomes. Committees provide leadership on specific issues. Board and Committee Members attend regular meetings and are also encouraged to attend FCSGW events and participate in the life of the organization.
Skills and experience: We are committed to having our Board represent our community with a broad mix of skills, knowledge and experience. We are particularly interested in the broad perspectives that people with diverse abilities, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and ethnicity would bring. Orientation and mentorship will be provided and training is available.
Time Commitment: Board applicants must be able to attend meetings in Guelph on the first Wednesday evening of each month and participate on one committee for a total of approximately 4-6 hours per month, plus meeting preparation time. Committee applicants are asked to commit to approximately 2-3 hours a month, plus meeting preparation time.
All of our Board members:
- Live or work in Guelph or Wellington County;
- Are current Society Members ;
- Have an interest in children and child welfare;
- Support the Mission, Vision and Values of F&CS; and
- Are interested in advocating for the needs of children.
