Foster families provide temporary homes for children who are unable to live with their own families. Depending upon circumstances, children may need foster care for a few days, a few weeks or sometimes months. Foster families are caring homes which go through a rigorous screening before having children placed in their care. Foster parents receive on-going support and some financial assistance. F&CS staff work with biological and foster parents to ensure that children are placed in environments where they will be cared for and supported.
