Children and Youth in Care Day

May 14th is Children and Youth in Care Day, a special day created by the province of Ontario to raise awareness about children and youth in care.

This day is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of current and former children and youth in care, as well as reduce stigma, and celebrate their strength, bravery, and resilience in the face of adversity.

This day is also an important reminder that children and youth in care face adversities. They require allies, advocacy, and collaboration to help them reach their full potential.

Please see below 2022 video, which shares some incredible messages for children and youth in care:

Below you will also find a message from our Children’s Services Team:

“All the Children’s Services Workers at Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County want to wish our youth in care a happy youth in care day.  We care about you and hope you know how strong, brave and resilient you are!!” – Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County’s Children’s Services Team.

Please stay tuned for 2023 updates and event details!

You can find some special resources created by the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies (OACAS) for Children and Youth in Care Day at http://www.oacas.org/childrenandyouthincare/, including a special new initiative called “Take5” to support the mental health of children and youth in care.

Happy Children and Youth in Care Day to all children and youth in care. On May 14th, we celebrate your incredible strength, bravery, and resilience in the face of adversity. We care about you, and we are here for you, today and every day!
