The Children First Fund at Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County has launched a Car Seat Program to assist eligible local families in accessing car seats for their children.
Eligible families can receive up to a maximum of $300 per calendar year toward the purchase of car seats, subject to funding availability. Through this program, car seats are purchased by Family & Children’s Services of Guelph and Wellington County (based on the information provided in the application form). Families can specify in the application form whether they would like their car seat to be delivered, or if they would prefer to pick it up themselves.
To be eligible for support under the Car Seat Program, families must meet the following criteria:
- Families must live in Guelph or Wellington County; and
- Families must have a net adjusted income (Line 236 on your income tax) below the current federal Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) guidelines (see table below).

To determine eligibility for this funding program, we will require a copy of your Canada Child Benefit (CCB-OCB) Notice (from the most recent tax year) which shows your marital status and the number of children in the family to verify family size, as well as your family’s net adjusted income (Line 236).
If you don’t have the CCB notice, then alternatives would be:
- Your Ontario Trillium Benefit (OTB) notice
- GST-HST Credit notice
- A recent Ontario Works (OW) statement that shows name and monthly amount
- For refugees-immigrants, we can accept a Statutory Declaration from Immigrant Services or Settlement Services

If you have already been approved for the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington’s Free to Grow Program, you are automatically deemed eligible for this Car Seat Program, and will not need to re-submit the above documents. If this pertains to you, please follow the instructions in the application form to confirm this, and provide permission for us to reach out to confirm this information.
