So, when you don’t have the privilege of having a family, youth ask “Who is going to buy my birthday card this year? Who is going to remember me?” – Former Youth in Care
The Children First Fund provides financial assistance to programs which are not currently funded through the Ministry of Children and Youth Services. Programs supported through the Fund help improve the lives of children, youth, and families in our community.
Education Support Program
For many children and young adults who have been affected by abuse and neglect, obtaining an education can be a difficult task. The Education Support Program assists our Crown Ward youth and former Crown Ward youth with expenses associated with post-secondary education programs including tools and supplies associated with an apprenticeship.
Enrichment Program
We encourage the children and youth in our care to hold a dream for their future and to reach for it. The Enrichment Program can provide access to inspiring opportunities and skill building experiences which are outside the Ministry’s funding mandate.
Prevention & Early Help Program
Family & Children’s Services recognizes the importance of identifying families in vulnerable situations and working with parents and their children in a holistic and preventative manner before costly intrusive intervention is required. The Prevention and Early Help Program works collaboratively with other organizations to offer accessible supports for vulnerable children, youth and families.
Permanency
When children have forever families to live with who love them and care about them, they have the greatest chance of being all they are meant to be.
