An Afternoon at Hogwarts
An Afternoon at Hogwarts is a Family Day Celebration presented by the Children First Fund, featuring the Guelph Symphony Orchestra (GSO). The GSO performs narrated concerts of orchestral works associated with stories that are geared to children. They have just finished an adaptation of Harry Potter themes which is suitable for all ages and are premiering this work at An Afternoon at Hogwarts.The performance includes musical selections from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone that are accompanied by a costumed narration of some of Harry’s adventures as well as some opportunities for audience participation.
Before the performance Harry Potter themed hands-on family activities are being offered that include an opportunity to try out some of the orchestra’s musical instruments. Light snack refreshments will be available for purchase. You are invited to come dressed in your best wizarding costumes!
-Doors open at 2:00 p.m. for the family pre-concert activities.
-Seating for the concert is on a first come basis with access to the theatre around 3:00 p.m.
-War Memorial Hall is on the Gordon Street bus route; free parking is available in adjacent University of Guelph parking lots.

About the Guelph Symphony Orchestra
Guelph Symphony Orchestra (GSO) was founded as the Guelph Chamber Orchestra in 2001, becoming the Guelph Symphony Orchestra in 2003 to reflect the symphonic repertoire being performed. The Orchestra which is comprised of musicians from Guelph and surrounding region, provides performances of major symphonic repertoire regularly in the Guelph’s River Run Centre.
A strong supporter of Canadian Artists, the GSO has developed creative partnerships with Canadian performing arts organizations also engages in partnerships with musical organizations within the community.
